Could This Be Jock Itch or Another Issue? 35M

9/12/2025, 8:01:24 PMMale25-34

I’ve developed a rash on the inner part of my thigh. Whenever I scratch it, it appears to worsen. Currently, I don’t have health insurance, and I’ve never experienced jock itch before, so I can’t make any comparisons.

It sounds like you're dealing with a rash on your inner thigh, and I understand that this can be concerning, especially if it's worsening with scratching. This rash could potentially be jock itch, which is a fungal infection common in warm, moist areas, but since you’re not familiar with it, it might also be another skin issue such as contact dermatitis or a different type of infection.

Explanation: Jock itch often presents as a red, itchy rash in the groin area, typically with defined edges. Scratching can irritate the skin further, leading to a cycle of irritation and potential secondary infections. Other causes could include irritation from clothing, allergies, or even conditions like eczema or psoriasis.

Next Steps:

  1. Avoid Scratching: Try to refrain from scratching the area to prevent further irritation and the risk of infection.

  2. Keep it Dry: Moisture can exacerbate the situation. Consider using loose-fitting clothing and breathable fabrics that reduce sweat accumulation.

  3. Apply an Antifungal Cream: If you suspect jock itch, over-the-counter antifungal creams (like clotrimazole or miconazole) can be beneficial. Apply as directed on the packaging.

  4. Monitor the Rash: Keep an eye on the rash for changes. If it starts to spread, grows more painful, or does not improve within a week of treatment, this raises the urgency to address it further.

  5. Maintain Hygiene: Wash the area gently with mild soap and water, then pat it dry completely after bathing.

If the rash continues to worsen or if you notice severe symptoms (like blisters, pus, or significant swelling), it would be important to look for more help despite not having insurance. There are often community health resources available. Let me know if you have further questions or if there are specific concerns you'd like to discuss!

Seeking Insights on ECG and Echo Results: Concerns about Left Axis Deviation

Greetings! I need some assistance evaluating my ECG results, particularly regarding concerns about left axis deviation. I am a 39-year-old female, standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 275 pounds. While perusing my medical records for an unrelated concern, I discovered two ECGs conducted in 2021 and 2022. The ECG from 2021 indicated borderline results with normal sinus rhythm (NSR), low QRS voltage, incomplete right bundle branch block (IRBBB), and a note suggesting a possible older anterior myocardial infarction, recording a QRS axis of -23. The emergency room evaluated all my tests that day as normal, including a subsequent confirmation of the ECG results by a physician, with no further discussion on the matter afterward. In contrast, the ECG from 2022 was marked as abnormal, also indicating NSR but showing a left axis deviation. It noted low voltage in the QRS and stated that an anterior infarct could not be ruled out; the age of this finding was listed as undetermined, with a QRS axis measured at -39. Similarly, the ER confirmed that my tests were normal, and a doctor later validated the ECG findings. Last month, I presented this information to my doctor, who then reviewed my history and performed another ECG on August 7, 2025, which again returned with abnormal results revealing NSR and a left anterior fascicular block. The QRS axis had shifted further to -75. Recognizing that the interpretation of ECGs can vary significantly, I still harbor concerns regarding the persistent left axis deviation. Out of an abundance of caution, my physician recommended I undergo an echocardiogram, the results of which have come back normal. I would appreciate any insights into my recent ECG and echo results. Do they raise any red flags regarding my heart's health? Could this indicate a pathological left axis deviation? Should I consider scheduling an appointment with a specialist?

Experiencing Foot Swelling and Numbness

At 44 years old, I stand 6 feet 4 inches tall and weigh 184 pounds. My daily medications include 20mg of Adderall taken twice and 15mg of Abilify once. I occasionally vape a nicotine solution at 6mg and sometimes use marijuana; I am also in recovery from IV methamphetamine addiction. Recently, over the past couple of months, I have noticed a troubling swelling in my lower legs and feet, particularly below the knee. In the past, I would typically manage discomfort with ibuprofen, pushing through the pain. However, the situation has escalated to the point where walking has become a challenge. I am experiencing a loss of sensation in my right foot alongside extreme tightness in the skin, which has become shiny and is even cracking in places. I am at a loss regarding what steps to take next. Unfortunately, the local hospital in Worland, Wyoming, provides minimal support. After undergoing an ultrasound, X-ray, and EKG, along with blood tests, I was sent home without any conclusive answers. It seems local emergency care focuses solely on ensuring one isn't in immediate danger, and without insurance, they offered no further assistance. As I continue to lose feeling in my feet, the pain I do experience is intense and concerning. I am seeking guidance on how to proceed given this troubling condition.

Discussing Hydrosalpinx and Pain Management

Hello! I am a 35-year-old woman who previously underwent a hysterectomy and underwent tubal ligation. Currently, I am experiencing double hydrosalpinx, with the right-side enlargement measuring over 3 cm as of July this year. Additionally, I frequently deal with ovarian cysts and I am scheduled for surgery at the beginning of November. Recently, I had an accident where I fell while getting out of my vehicle, and since then, I have encountered a significant increase in severe pain in my right lower quadrant, which extends deeply into my hip area. Usually, the pain is mild and manageable, but this sensation feels notably different. I am also dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, fibromyalgia, and other conditions, so I'm hesitant to take up emergency services unnecessarily. I reached out to my obstetrician, who is overseeing my surgery. She advised me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen, which I already use routinely, and she also prescribed robaxin, though it doesn't seem to be providing relief. Given the intensity of my current symptoms, should I wait for it to subside or is it advisable for me to seek medical attention? Thank you for your guidance!

Sudden Relief from Prolonged Calf Pain: What Might This Indicate?

As a 42-year-old male auto mechanic weighing 180lbs and standing 5’7”, I’ve been living with ulcerative colitis and receiving Stelara injections. In my life, I’ve avoided drugs and alcohol. Approximately three weeks ago, I woke up to a sensation akin to a muscle strain in my calf. Such injuries have happened before and usually resolve without issue. However, the discomfort persisted not only throughout that week but also lingered into the following one. By Monday of this week, the pain intensified dramatically. Upon standing, I was met with agonizing discomfort that rendered me nearly immobile. Although I managed to offset the pain somewhat by moving around, I still walked with a pronounced limp. This morning proved to be particularly challenging, as I experienced significant pain from the moment I woke up until about 1:30 p.m., to the point where I was sweating due to the severity of it. Strangely enough, just an hour later, I noticed that the pain had diminished significantly—I was now able to apply pressure to my calf without any discomfort for the first time in weeks. What could possibly have caused such intense pain for an extended duration, only to vanish almost instantaneously?

Concerns About My Ruptured Eardrum and Ear Infection

I’m a 17-year-old male and about a month ago, I suffered a ruptured eardrum. Initially, I sought help at the emergency room where I was prescribed antibiotic ear drops and assured that I would recover within a week. I followed their instructions and completed the course. However, shortly after discontinuing the drops, I began to experience a persistent ringing in my ears that did not subside. This noise fluctuated, temporarily disappearing for a couple of days only to return. This has been ongoing for several weeks, and it's becoming quite distressing. Recently, I visited a doctor again, but this time in Ireland. Upon examining my ear, the physician indicated that there was an infection present, which complicated their ability to determine whether my eardrum had healed or remained ruptured, as my ear canal was filled with discharge. They prescribed antibiotic drops, specifically Genticin (Gentamicin 0.3%). The packaging indicated that the medication was ototoxic and unsuitable for use with a ruptured eardrum. Given this alarming information, I was anxious but trusted the doctor’s judgment. After administering the drops this morning, my hearing became immediately muffled, and the ringing intensified. Now that night has fallen, I haven’t noticed any improvement. What should my next step be? Should I return to the doctor or continue using the drops? Am I perhaps overreacting to this situation?
