At 25 years old, weighing 112 lbs and standing at 5’4”, I reside in the USA and do not currently take any medications nor have any known health conditions. I also do not smoke or consume alcohol. Around February 23, I fell ill. Initially, it presented as a typical cold; however, I soon developed a fever that made me feel miserable. Fortunately, over-the-counter medication helped reduce the fever, but I never fully regained my health. Life continued on, yet two weeks later, after a tiring day of moving furniture despite feeling unwell, the fever returned, and I felt dreadful again. Once more, OTC medications managed to lower the fever, but my other symptoms remained unchanged. To this day, I am plagued by a persistent cough and a constantly irritating, scratchy throat. My nasal congestion fluctuates, and I often notice that the mucus is green. When I do manage to expel any phlegm, it is extremely thick, yellow or white in color, and opaque. Soon, my new job will activate my health insurance, but I currently lack a primary care physician. Should I consult a doctor? What steps should I take next? It feels as though I may never recover, and I've almost forgotten what it’s like to feel healthy.
